Fundraising is a great way to give something back, no matter what your chosen charity. Whether you’re fund raising for an established cause, or setting up a new campaign, here are some tips on how to use the different methods available to get your fundraising off to a flying start:
Set up a fundraising page and use it to the max
There are a number of websites that have been established to help people get the word out about a fundraising cause. If you use something like Just Giving or Kickstarter then you’ll have the opportunity to get your story across, as well as linking to the cause and giving people a way of directly donating money.
Don’t underestimate the importance of social media
It is well worth incorporating social media into your fundraising plans and campaign ideas from the start, as it’s a communication option that has such a wide reach. In fact, depending on what you’re doing you might even want to use it as a starting point – for example, the #nomakeupselfie campaign that raised £8+ million for Cancer Research was structured around social media.
Be creative with your ideas
One of the major barriers that most people face, when it comes to fundraising, is that someone has already done a sponsored swim, run or bake sale before. So, the more creative you can be the better, as you’ll not only give people the opportunity to donate to a great cause but also to be inspired while doing it. For example; picnics, wine tastings, street parties, cricket competitions, your very own calendar, air miles raffles, a dog show, a fashion show or even a boat race are a few ideas that haven’t been over done.
